National IT Disposal can collect accepted business IT equipment ranging from a single device to the contents of an entire workplace. There is no minimum or maximum collection quantity.
Collections can include mixed equipment categories such as laptops, desktops, monitors, servers, storage devices, phones, tablets and networking hardware. The same controlled collection and reporting process applies regardless of quantity, allowing smaller collections and major office clearances to use one consistent service.

Security-critical collections
Enhanced arrangements are available for organisations that require equipment containing confidential, regulated or commercially sensitive data to be destroyed before leaving their premises. Individual assets and storage media can be identified, recorded and destroyed on-site. .
Where required and agreed in advance, National IT Disposal can provide on-site physical data destruction, including hard-drive degaussing, crushing or solid-state media shredding. The resulting asset information and destruction outcomes are documented through the applicable reports and certificates.

Where does National IT Disposal collect business IT equipment?
National IT Disposal collects business IT equipment throughout England, Scotland and Wales, including cities, towns and rural locations. Collections are planned from accessible business premises, with timing and vehicle requirements agreed around the site, asset volume and access conditions.
Does National IT Disposal collect from Northern Ireland?
No. Northern Ireland is not currently within National IT Disposal’s standard collection area. Nationwide coverage on this page means England, Scotland and Wales.
Is there a minimum or maximum quantity for an IT equipment collection?
There is no fixed minimum or maximum collection size. National IT Disposal can assess anything from a single eligible device to a large, multi-site IT estate. Collection eligibility and any cost are confirmed from the equipment mix, quantity, condition, location and services required.
Is nationwide IT equipment collection free?
Nationwide collection may be provided at zero cost when the equipment and collection meet National IT Disposal’s reuse and recovery criteria. Eligibility is assessed using:
- equipment type and quantity;
- age, specification and condition;
- collection postcode and travel requirements;
- site access, parking and loading restrictions; and
- additional services such as on-site destruction or specialist handling.
The scope and any charges must be confirmed before the collection is booked, so the client has a clear written position in advance.
How quickly can a nationwide IT collection be arranged?
Most standard collections can normally be arranged within one week once the equipment, location and site requirements have been confirmed. Urgent, weekend or out-of-hours collections can be considered by agreement, subject to location, fleet availability and safe site access.
Can you manage IT equipment collections from multiple UK locations?
Yes. National IT Disposal can coordinate phased or simultaneous collections from multiple locations across England, Scotland and Wales. Each site can have its own collection record and chain-of-custody data, while the client receives central project management and consolidated reporting across the estate.
What types of business IT equipment do you collect?
National IT Disposal collects a broad range of business technology, data-bearing media and associated office equipment. Typical collections include:
- Computers: laptops, desktops, workstations and all-in-one PCs;
- Displays and peripherals: monitors, projectors, printers and related accessories;
- Infrastructure: servers, storage systems, networking equipment and racks;
- Mobile devices: business phones and tablets; and
- Data-bearing media: hard disk drives, solid-state drives, flash storage and tapes.
Acceptance is confirmed against the actual equipment list because unusual, hazardous or specialist items may require a separate handling plan.
Does the equipment need to be boxed or palletised before collection?
No. Equipment does not usually need to be boxed or palletised before National IT Disposal arrives. To help the collection run safely and accurately, the client should:
- isolate and store the equipment in a secure collection area;
- provide an equipment list or best available estimate;
- confirm the collection postcode and site contact; and
- identify parking, loading, lift, stair, security or timed-access restrictions.
On collection day, the operative scans the assets and containerises the equipment for secure transport.
Do you use your own vehicles and operatives for collections?
Yes. Collections are carried out by trained, DBS-checked National IT Disposal operatives using secure, solid-sided vehicles supported by GPS tracking and CCTV controls. The operative records assets by barcode or serial number at the client’s premises, so the documented chain of custody begins before the equipment leaves site.
Can data-bearing devices be physically destroyed at our premises?
Yes. On-site physical data destruction can be arranged when devices must not leave the client’s premises with data intact. The appropriate method is agreed for the media type and security requirement and may include:
- degaussing magnetic hard drives and tapes;
- crushing hard drives or solid-state media where appropriate; and
- shredding SSDs, flash media, phones or tablets to an agreed particle size.
Destroyed media is recorded against the asset and taken for compliant material recovery and recycling.
What happens to the equipment after collection?
All collected equipment is returned to National IT Disposal’s own Trafford Park, Manchester facility for controlled processing; the service is not passed to a third-party processing chain. The standard workflow is:
- Collection scan: assets are recorded at the client’s premises.
- Secure transport: equipment travels in the controlled collection fleet.
- Facility check-in: assets are reconciled and recorded for processing.
- Data treatment: data is erased in alignment with NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 using Certus, or the media is physically destroyed where erasure is unsuitable or destruction is required.
- Reuse or recycling: suitable equipment is prepared for reuse; remaining WEEE is dismantled and recycled through a zero-landfill process.
What reports and certificates do we receive after collection?
The client receives a collection and audit trail matched to the agreed service. Depending on the project, the document set can include:
- a Waste Transfer Note;
- an itemised asset report with barcode and serial-number records;
- serial-linked Data Sanitisation or Data Destruction certificates;
- a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note where required; and
- access to reports and certificates through the client portal.
Standard reporting is normally completed within 14–21 working days after collection. Large or complex projects should have a reporting timetable agreed case by case.
